The famed artist, Salvador Dali, most know for his surrealism master pieces, such as, “Persistence of Memory”, was much more than melting clocks. As a classically trained artist, the prolific Dali not only produced an amazing amount of work, but also became an icon of emerging media. Dali became living art.
A large portion of Dali’s work is on display at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, where one piece at the museum captured the attention of the President of the visual technology company, LaserNet. The little known work shows a series of intersecting lines on a canvas that is 24” by 24” in size. The visual technology company, LaserNet, will recreate this unique work on a large scale using high powered, multi colored laser beams. The intersecting beams will represent how our individual paths can cross as we journey through life.
In addition to the artwork on the giant scale, the display will become “interactive” by giving the spectator the opportunity to manipulate the lasers within the confines of the display. LaserNet will create the static original design for 20 minutes of every hour and then let the audience decide how the image will look for the remaining time.
