Artist Information

Eye of Detroit is an interactive light sculpture that is activated by festival participants. A large eye-shaped projection screen is illuminated by a color changing projector. It serves as a platform for children, adults, and the occasional canine to do an unlimited variety of shadow poses, dances, and other forms of self-expression.

Studio Erin Taylor

Born and raised in St. Louis, Erin Taylor obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in glass at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2015. He previously earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas and worked in the building design profession for over fifteen years. He has been creating light based interactive art installations for the past twenty years. His artistic practice is a culmination of years of experience in sculpture, installation, architecture, wood-working, metal-working, photography, video, and glass. His light installations have been featured at multiple art festivals as well as gallery shows throughout the Midwest. His work explores the dynamic visual properties of light and perception. Erin is currently a Digital Fabrication Lab Specialist for the School of Art and Design and School of Engineering at Alfred University in western New York.
