Open Call Info Session this Saturday
DLECTRICITY will hold an info session on Saturday, February 22nd, at 1:00 pm at MOCAD. We’ll be going over the event, the open call process, the guidelines, and answering your questions. Please attend if you are in Detroit and interested in applying for DLECTRICITY.

MOCAD is located at 4454 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201.
DLECTRICITY is Detroit’s Nuit Blanche exhibition of art + light, and features artistic projects that incorporate light, including film/video, sculpture, installation and performance. DLECTRICITY takes place during two evenings throughout Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood, home to the Cultural Center. Our 2012 event included works by ten invited artists, as well as 25 projects selected from an open call, and brought over 75,000 people into Midtown Detroit.

We want to see your best proposals for light-based art suitable for outdoor installation. We will consider existing works that can be adapted for display in Midtown Detroit, as well as new projects. DLECTRICITY is back and ready to see more of YOUR work!
For two electrifying nights in 2012, DLECTRICITY brought thousands of people into Midtown Detroit to experience 35 projects by local, national and international artists. 25 of those projects were selected from an open call. This fall, DLECTRICITY will again transform Midtown with site-specific installations of light, video, performance, interactive engineering and nonconformist architecture. From lasers to dance, robots to 3D mapping, we want to see what you create. We challenge you to animate historic buildings, turn streets into oceans – the city landscape is your canvas. Now is the chance to
show Detroit, and the world, what you can do!
DLECTRICITY IS LOOKING FOR projects that will activate the outdoor, nighttime landscape of Midtown Detroit’s Woodward Corridor including:
• Light art
• Video art
• Performance (art, dance, theater, music)
• Multimedia installations
• Workshops
• Works that utilize mobile platforms
• Interactive projects that engage the community
• The unexpected
ACCEPTED PROPOSALS WILL BE FUNDED UP TO $2500.
ARTISTS WILL ALSO RECEIVE A $1000 HONORARIUM.

MCACA awards $25,000 to DLECTRICITY
The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) recently announced their 2014 list, and we’re pleased that Dlectricity was one of the recipients.
